Radiation and the Genome
Tuesday 1 December 2009

Venue: The British Institute of Radiology, 36 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AT
Tel: +44 (0)20 7307 1411

This meeting will provide an overview of stem cell biology and its relevance for radiotherapy in terms of both tumour (somatic) and normal tissue (germline) sensitivity to radiation and chemotherapy? Genomic instability will be covered: its importance for radiation-induced carcinogenesis and potential for exploitation in the development of novel chemoradiotherapy combinations. Talks will address the prospects of genotyping for understanding individual variation in genomic instability and propensity of patients to develop toxicity following radiotherapy.

This meeting will be of interest to radiobiologists, cancer biologists, clinical and radiation oncologists, and all other disciplines allied to radiation oncology. Anyone interested in learning more about radiation and stem cells, genomic instability and genotyping should attend.
