Viruses, Malware and Encryption 15 July 2010 A scientific meeting organised by Mr Bill Kelly, Mrs Liz Hunt and the BIR's Health Infomatics Committee on behalf of the British Institute of Radiology. The increase in technology and computerisation in modern heath care has had major benefits on patient safety, care and treatment. Much of the equipment used in radiology and radiotherapy is now closely integrated with computer systems. Much of the information used in modern health care is digital and requires robust network environments to operate effectively. Viruses and Malware are a constant threat to Hospital Information Networks and systems. There have been many documented cases of the effects of such "attacks". The information that we hold on our hospital networks needs to be available to the right people, but protected from inappropriate access. There is a need to share this data with other health care professionals in a safe manner. Encryption systems need to be used to ensure safe handling of such data. This meeting will introduce and update attendees on the state of the risks of viruses and malware on hospital networks and introduce strategies for management. This meeting would be of interest to: Doctors in Radiology and Oncology, and Health Care Professionals, including Radiographers, Clinical Scientists, PACs Managers, Health Informatics, IT System Managers, Manufacturers of Medical Equipment and Radiotherapy/ Radiology Students For more information and to register visit: https://bir.org.uk/membersarea/multievents/displayEvent.asp?Type=Full&Code=5114 |
