We have a GE Dephinium 8000 and AGFA PACS. The Dephinium does not create a UID for each image therefore images arrive in PACS as a series. This is causing problem when we have a 3 or 4 image study

i.e if image 1 is Lt knee AP, image 2 is Rt knee AP, image 3 is Lt knee Lat and image 4 is Rt knee lat you cannot view the AP and lateral side by side.

Has anyone got experience of this or a similar problem or does anyone have any ideas.

GE have said a UID cannot be created for each exposure.

I'm not familiar with the GE Definium 8000 but there are some options within Impax...

(i) If you're using a detailed BodyPart mapping you can create a 'Hanging Protocol' for the appropriate bodypart ('Knee'). Protocol entries would look something like this:
1. %Lt%AP%
2. %Lt&Lat%
3. %Rt%AP%
4. %Rt%Lat%

(ii) By far the easiest option is to give the users the "re-arrange images" or "re-arrange series" tool (depending upon whether they combine series for that modality or not). They can then manually move the images themselves.

(iii) You can even use a Keyboard shortcut to kickstart a hanging protocol or change the screen format for easy re-arrange.

There are lots of variables to take into account and setting vary from site to site so it's difficult to suggest anything further over a message thread without being sat at a workstation. In my opinion that's the great thing about Impax - It's so configurable.

The problem arises because the same study contains CR images each in a separate series PLUS DR images ALL in the same series. To enable a hanging protocol in Impax we need separate series or images NOT a mixture of both.

Thanks Kyle and Bob,

Bob I hope you don't mind me posting our problem I thought we might find someone with the same configuration (GE Definium with IMPAX) who may have experienced the same problem.

To clarify the problem is not specific to mixed CR/DR studies. The biggest problem is a pure DR study. If we can sort out the DR studies the mixed CR/DR should resolve as a result.
