Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is one of the largest acute hospitals trusts in England. It has in excess of 2,500 beds across 5 hospitals and provides a broad range of elective and emergency services to the population of Sheffield and surrounding area as well as many tertiary referral services for South Yorkshire and beyond.

The Directorate of Medical Imaging & Medical Physics manages the majority of the Trusts Medical Imaging services along with a wide variety of Medical Physics services including Medical Engineering, Radiation Protection and scientific support to Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Audiology.

The Imaging departments produce 450,000 examinations per year across a range of modalities including MR, Nuclear Medicine, CT, Ultrasound, Angiography, Fluoroscopy, Breast Imaging & General Radiography

There is an existing Image Archive in use with a number of workstations as an interim digital imaging solution. There is an established PACS/RIS Project Board currently working to plan for the introduction of a trust-wide PACS, replacement RIS and Digital Imaging across the trust.

The main thrust of the post in the first instance will be associated with planning for the PACS and associated operational issues as part of the Scientific Computing Team. The post will take a key role in managing the PACS environment and its support team as it develops.

We are seeking candidates with experience of medical imaging workflows, excellent communication skills and proven change management ability with at least 3 years experience working at a senior level.
