Visbion is seeking to recruit two Software Development Engineers to work as part of its development team – one focusing on server side applications development and maintenance and the other focusing on client side application software.

The Software Development Engineers will be based at Visbion’s head office in Chertsey, Surrey and report to the Head of Software Development. These are ideal roles for experienced developers who want to extend their skills and experience and progress their career with a leading provider of medical imaging software.

Core tasks:
• Agree priorities and deadlines for new software development with the Visbion Head of Software Development
• Work with the Head of Software Development and other colleges in the software development team to design innovative image management solutions and enhancements to Visbion core products
• Depending on area of focus, one of:
- Server side application development and maintenance using C++, MS Visual Studio and SQL Server
- Client side application development and maintenance using C++, MS Visual Studio and MFC
• Working with Visbion Professional Services staff, investigate, diagnose and resolve suspected software defects
• Schedule development tasks and work diligently to meet challenging deadlines
• Assist the technical authors to document user and system administration manuals and documentation
• Software testing in line with Visbion’s quality management system and regulatory requirements
• Ensure that all relevant administrative, quality and regulatory documentation is accurately completed and maintained
• Help to maintain and administer Visbion’s case logging and tracking system

Measures of Success
• The key measure of success will be quality and timeliness of delivered software
• Personal measures will include: ability quickly to become a productive member of the Visbion development team, meet challenging deadlines, the accuracy and timeliness of administrative documentation, team working, and flexibility.

Key Skills / Experience
• Relevant academic qualifications ideally in IT or related subjects
• Experience of working as part of a dynamic applications development team
• C and C++ programming essential
• Experience of MS Visual Studio
• Experience of multi-threading and Visual SourceSafe both desirable
• For the Server side development role - Experience of SQL Server 2003 / 2008 essential
- Ability to hand code in html essential
- Knowledge of XSLT desirable
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking desirable
- Experience of Medical Imaging, Dicom 3.0 and HL7 a definite plus
• For the Client side development role:
- Experience with programming MFC essential
- Understanding of image processing essential
- Knowledge of Dicom 3.0 and HL7 desirable
• Proficiency in Microsoft tools such as Word and Excel
• Proven track record of delivering quality software to challenging deadlines
• Experience of working in a regulated environment desirable
• Experience of healthcare an advantage
